Recently Blockbuster changed their rental policy to a new "No Late Fees" system. On the surface this sounds fantastic, because it sucks to have to rush through a movie or not even get a chance to watch it, just so you can get it back on time. With this new policy you can keep the rental as long as necessary with no late fees.
Here comes the big butt...
But, what they don't say is you still only have a week to return the movie before you get charged. You won't be charged a "late fee", instead you'll be charged for the cost of the movie (minus the rental cost). Whoops! Wasn't expecting that on your credit card were you? If you return the movie after they've charged you for it, they will credit your Blockbuster account (minus a restocking fee). Of course that isn't money back to you, that's a credit for you to spend money in a Bockbuster store.
Here is the Legal Mumbo-Jumbo from the Blockbuster site for all the details.
Now this is better than it was, but I don't think they're being entirely up front about it.
Your thoughts?
