Sorry folks for the long hiatus. I hadn't realized it had been so long...
I kept meaning to write a post about my busy visiting weekend. Both Whit and Thea, and my friend Cliff were in town.
Cliff is doing well. He is moving into a new position at his job. He gets to actually come up with new ideas, instead of just doing what other people say. Although now people are looking to him for the great ideas, so he has that pressure. Unfortunately his body is falling apart. In an amazing move, his upper body has no reflexes. What the heck!!! No one is sure what that means, but it doesn't seem like a good thing. In addition his back is getting worse and worse. Other than that, he's the same old Cliff. We had a lot of laughs. Especially about the "Happy Birthday" punishment in the old cartoons. Anyone remember that? The cat screaming "No, not the Happy Birthday. Anything but that!!" It was funny, trust me.
Whit and Thea were in town for Thea's high school reunion. Their weekend was booked pretty solid, so Saturday lunch was the only time to get with them. We went to Larosas, because they hadn't had their fix yet. You see when you lived in a place like Cincinnati, which has so many signature tastes, you have to get a little taste of each of them whenever you come back. They had already hit Skyline, and White Castle, so Larosas was next. We did a double-whammy by getting the Montgomery Inn topper. It was delicious.
They are doing well. Moved into their new house. Very big, and very cool step. Ha! You thought I was talking about their house. Well, it is cool, but not so big. Much bigger than their old apartment though. I saw some pics, and they told some stories about some of their first home-owner experiences. Good ones, too. Maybe I'll get them to guest-blog on here. They have a lot of good plans for the house, and I can't wait to visit.
Coming up soon, I'll have some baby announcements. Within the next few weeks, both Andrew (Carla and Gary's boy) and Nicholas (Brian and Stephanie's boy) will be born. So watch for that.
Till then...
Update:
I got some questions about the cartoon I mentioned in this post. After doing some research I found out it is a Looney Tunes short called Early to Bet. It was made in 1951, and a brief plot summary can be found on imdb.com. I'm still looking for a movie file.

Some amazing person to organize us, I suppose.
Any takers?
Sorry to poke into what seems to be a rather personal blog, but... I have been searching for the cartoon you mention in this post: "We had a lot of laughs. Especially about the "Happy Birthday" punishment in the old cartoons. Anyone remember that? The cat screaming "No, not the Happy Birthday. Anything but that!!" It was funny, trust me."
Do you know anything more about it?
I searched with GOOGLE and your post was the only match I found. Over the years, more years than you've been alive, I have had occasion to try to describe this cartoon to people and always end up saying the "Really, it was funny, trust me." line myself. I don't loose sleep over it or anything, but have a friend with a birthday coming up this week and my mind tends to flash to "OH NO!" and the critter being pulled through the drain pipes. Any additional info?? I have never commented on a blog, hope this was not inappropriate.
I'll see what I can do to find out more about it. I suppose I'll post back in these comments if I find anything.
OK, I posted an update to the original post with some more info about the cartoon in question.
Thank you, I would have never found it. I'm requesting a copy of the DVD from my local library. Sometimes a 'blast from the past' is a disappointment and from what the user comments are on imdb.com this one might be just that. But then again...
Thanks so much for the info!
