Everybody Don't Limbo

The Pope is set to abolish the concept of Limbo, overturning a belief held by Roman Catholics since the Middle Ages.

The original commision to examine Limbo was ordered by Pope John Paul II, but its conclusion has only been recently reached. Limbo is (or was) that in-between place where unbaptized babies would go when they died.

I just find it interesting when the church decides to do an about-face like this. Apparently the whole Limbo thing was "a theological hypothesis" according to our current Pope. Of course the new "hypothesis" is that those souls who were classified as being in Limbo now only have the "hope of eternal salvation" All that hope and no place to go. That doesn't sound too good to me.

Ratzinger expressed his doubts about limbo long back in an interview published in 1984. Catholic church is overburdened with too many horseshits!
