3rd-party Epson Ink Cartridges may be a Thing of the Past

From this Ars Technica article:
Printer and cartridge maker Epson is a step closer to completely barring third-party manufacturers from selling Epson-compatible cartridges in the US.

So if you have an Epson printer and you buy the cheap ink instead of the Epson brand. You might want to start stockpiling now. In fact I would worry if you buy any 3rd party ink, because I would expect other printer manufacturers to follow Epson's lead here.

This is just another example of a patent system that has run amok, stifling innovation instead of promoting it.
