The Ohio Environmental Protection Agency has recommended the state end its E-Check auto emission program in Cincinnati and Dayton as of Dec. 31.
I say it is about time. The E-Check program has always been a farce. For those that don't know, E-Check is designed to help curb harmful automobile pollution. The idea is that your car is checked every other year to make sure that it isn't letting off too much pollution. However, if your car is more than 25 years old you are exempt. Now let's consider a moment, which cars would be giving off more pollution, older cars or newer cars....hmmmmm.
And there is the folly that the Ohio EPA has finally admitted. So hopefully by the end of this year we can put that whole crazy idea behind us.

All fine and dandy....and yes it is a folly if old cars are exempt and that it is only done every other year. BUT it still bothers me that Ohio does not require cars to have a state inspection every year. I always wonder about brakes, exhaust and other such things that people ignore - unless they have to pass inspection. I guess Ohio just trusts people to do what is right on their own...which is fine as long as they bring no harm to others by their actions - or rather lack of action. Hey, be careful out there.
